The World Runs on Silicon. Silicon Runs on People.

Every system—from AI to smartphones—is built by an ecosystem of roles. Explore the people behind it.

Noah Willis, TSMC

Equipment Engineer

My day starts with a morning passdown from night shift—reviewing tool issues, performance data, and setting priorities for manufacturing. I coordinate with process engineers on monitoring needs and production recipes, then split time between the fab and desk work: supporting maintenance, running tests, or working on projects. In the afternoon, I may work with vendors to source parts or collect data on tool performance. The day ends with an evening passdown, ensuring the next shift is set up for success.

Skills That Matter

  • Learning agility – ask questions, take notes, improve quickly

  • Communication – align across teams in a complex system

  • Integrity – do things the right way, even under pressure

Project Examples

ASML Lens Replacement
Led coordination for a multi-week, multi-million dollar part replacement—balancing uptime, cross-team alignment, and tool performance validation.

Computer Vision System
Built and integrated a real-time defect detection system using custom hardware, CAD, and data pipelines.

Cost Savings Optimization
Developed a database tool to identify compatible parts and reduce costs using large-scale data analysis (Excel/VBA).
